Wetlandkeepers & Streamkeepers
Program
Streamkeepers Program (Est. 1993)
Streamkeepers and Wetlandkeepers Courses - Hundreds
of people have taken the nationally-recognized Streamkeepers course,
which focuses on the basic skills of monitoring aquatic habitats and getting
involved in local volunteer projects. The Pacific Streamkeepers Federation,
Capilano College and the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans certify
our Streamkeepers instructors. The Wetlandkeepers Courses have been initiated
in the fall of 2001 with one of our Streamkeepers instructor becoming certified
by the BC Wildlife Federation to deliver the basic course.
Stewardship Workshops - A number of workshops are provided for graduates of the Streamkeepers course to enhance their skills and keep them inspired and learning about community stewardship.
Streamkeepers Network - An MsAccess database of qualified Streamkeepers is maintained to allow tracking of training needs, skill levels and interests among local volunteers.
